SONGS OF JOY AND SORROW
The international women’s day celebration concert of finnish vocal music.
Soloists Sirkka Lampimaki and Petteri Salomaa, accompanied by Gustav Djupsjobacka. Concert presenter: Irina Gornaya.
We celebrate the International women’s day with Finnish vocal music. The concert is designed and carried out by the Academy of Finnish Art Song (Suomen Lauluakatemia). The artists perform songs about the life of Finnish women. Irina Gornaya will give an introduction to Finnish vocal music.
Sirkka Lampimaki: graduated from the Sibelius Academy in 2004 after studies and master classes abroad. She works as a freelance singer and studies for a higher university degree. Next to Finland she has performed as an opera singer in several other European countries.
Petteri Salomaa: studied singing at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. He has regularly appeared at the Finnish National Opera and in other European opera houses in major baritone roles. As concert singer he has appeared with major orchestras all around world. He has done many recordings and is currently the Professor of Singing at Sibelius Academy in Helsinki.

Gustav Djupsjöbacka
Gustav Djupsjobacka: director of the Sibelius Academy, studied piano in Sibelius Academy and in other academies in Europe, accompanies many Finnish top singers, several recordings and performances throughout the world.
Irina Gornaya: singer and musicologist. She published in 2005 the book “Finnish chamber vocal music of 20th century” in Russian.
