Ylioppilaskunnan Laulajat (YL), founded in 1883, is a pioneer in Finnish male choir music. YL gives concerts regularly all around Finland and vigorously exports Finnish art to the European, American and Asian continents. In addition to its versatile a cappella repertoire (the YL is well-know for its Sibelius repertoire) YL performs works for accompanied male choir with the worlds' most noteworthy orchestras and conductors. Numerous famous soloists of classical and popular music have made guest appearances in the choir's concerts and on its recordings. YL has received numerous highly esteemed national and international awards and nominations. The conductor is Doctor of Music, Mr. Matti Hyökki. With YL`s long history of concerts, several tours abroad, numerous recordings (80 cd’s and lp’s) can the choir be named as one of the most prominent male choirs in world.
