The St. Petersburg Academic State Capella
Symphony orchestra of Capella, accordion soloist Matti Rantanen, conductor A. Chernuchenko
In this concert the symphony orchestra of Capella, together with accordionist Matti Rantanen, will perform compositions of Kyllonen. The concert will be recorded. Kyllonen will be present at the concert.
Studied accordion and later composing in Moscow 1976-1986, first in Gnesin institute and later in Tchaikovsky conservatory. Since 1986 he has been teaching part-time in Sibelius-Academy in Helsinki and composing. He has composed a large number of works including symphonies, chamber, choral and vocal music. His style is rooted in Russian tradition (Shostakovich, Prokofiev) but is further developed by himself. His aim is to communicate with people and his music is marked by a natural mode of expression in which melody plays an important part.
Many of his works have won an established position in the repertoire of musicians and choirs in Finland and abroad. He has been performing in North- and South-America and in several countries in Europe. He is also an active musician and choral conductor.
